Canada Day is undoubtedly the most important holiday all over the country. This year, become a part of the celebration in Vancouver on 1 July, where you’ll find some of the largest festivities including colourful parades, live music concerts, picnics and barbecues. Thousands of people visit, so don’t miss out on the fun for everyone.

The area around Canada Place in downtown Vancouver is without a doubt one of the best (and busiest) places to be on July 1st. As a matter of fact, the festivities at Canada Place claim to be the second largest Canada Day celebrations on the globe, next only to those in Ottawa, Canada’s capital. Canada Day has been western Canada’s premier event for over 30 years, bringing communities together to share in the special bond of living in one of the greatest countries in the world. It is a great opportunity to celebrate our freedom, values and diversity.

There are live performances at Canada Place all day; official celebrations are usually held in the Canada Place exhibition centre. Here you can check out lumberjack shows, mechanical bucking broncos, bouncy castles, and free outdoor concerts.

In the evening there are amazing fireworks, filling the sky with a spectacular feast for the eyes. The best places to watch the fireworks at night on Canada Day are anywhere along the water in Coal Harbour, including Canada Place, around the Convention Centre, or anywhere along the Coal Harbour seawall between the Convention Centre and the Vancouver-facing side of Stanley Park. Views of the fireworks are also really good from North Vancouver, including from Lonsdale Quay, the pier by Shipbuilder’s Square and Waterfront Park.

Some of the Canada Day event highlights not to be missed are:

  • Canadian Forces Zone
  • Citizenship Ceremony
  • Coast Capital Savings Youth Zone
  • Main stage headliner performance by JoJo Mason
  • Innovation Zone
  • Fireworks show
  • Food trucks

Something else that must be checked out this Canada Day is Church’s Chicken. Our fried chicken is a feast that fits the Canada Day celebrations picture perfect – a great-tasting product at a reasonable price.
