This year marks the 41st annual Vancouver International Wine Festival. It is one of the biggest and oldest wine events across the globe, with the inaugural event being held as long ago as 1979. The Wine Festival will take place from Saturday, February 23, 2019 to Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
For the 2019 event, 160 wineries from 15 countries will travel to Vancouver for the show. The wineries will be represented by winery principals (including winemakers, senior executives and proprietors) who will be discussing their wines at 54 events over the course of the 8 days that the festival takes place.
The festival has three mandates:
- To provide an informative, educational and entertaining wine experience for the public and trade,
- To be a premier marketing opportunity for the wine industry and its festival partners, and
- To raise funds for the Bard on the Beach Theatre Society.
The festival will be packed with events. Here are some of the notable must-attend events to keep your eye on:
- 2019 Bacchanalia Gala Dinner
This black-tie event will be presented by Blakes and it will kick off with a sparkling wine reception at 6 pm. Wine enthusiasts will be able to enjoy live music and dancing while you peruse the outstanding wines that have been paired with an exquisite menu prepared by the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. The silent auction will feature everything from epicurean getaways and unique culinary experiences to extremely rare wines.
- Beauty And The Beest
Experience the sublime contrast between classic tradition and contemporary flair at the Beauty and The Beest event. Culmina Family Estate Winery Proprietor and Canadian wine legend, Don Triggs, will be hosting the event. There is a limit of four tickets per order. - Cioppino’s Masters Cali
