Once the latest round of Toronto’s COVID-19 restrictions have been eased, a visit to Toronto Island Park would be a great way for visitors and residents of the city to enjoy a day out.

Located in Lake Ontario, a short 13-minute ferry ride from downtown Toronto, the Island offers something for everybody. Both adults and kids can find something to occupy themselves with on this 5km long island group. Go in the summertime to make the most of the beautiful swimming beaches or have a picnic on one of the many available spots amidst all the greenery. There is also a theatre, an amusement park and a range of restaurants and bars. If you’re more physically inclined, the Island is a perfect place for walking, running, biking, kayaking and canoeing.

Toronto Island Park is a sight to see throughout the year. In winter, the ferry service is restricted. Of the three primary services – to Centre Island, Ward Island and Hanlan’s Point, only the Ward Island one is available. While walking, biking and tennis might be among your choice of activities in Summer, during the colder months, hockey, skating and even some cross-country skiing are the preferred pastimes. If you are a photographer or just enjoy taking in a great view, the Island is definitely worth a visit in winter: the steely skyline and the frozen landscapes are a sight to behold. If you do go in Winter, just be sure to check the ferry timetables, as they are less regular than they would be in Summer.
